3 years ago I took a introductory class to RC. When asked about what type of respiratory therapist and where would I want to work at, I said I would like to be a transport therapist. Being able to go on the helicopters and ambulances with the doctors and nurses.
3 years later… I went on a transport with a doctor, 2 nurses, an EMT, and a paramedic to transfer a critically ill kid to our hospital. I was nervous. It was my first transport on an ambulance from one hospital to another. My supervisor was not able to accompany me because the doctor wanted 2 nurses instead of another therapist. But I did it! I told them with confident that I can do it.
I am happy that it was a successful transport. I am happy that I was able to find the source of the problem that happened during the transport. It was exciting and I still want to be a transport therapist!
